Sarah Mulkerrins is an Irish sports broadcaster and event host, known mostly for her work over the last decade on BBC TV and radio, where she has covered Summer and Winter Olympics, Football and Rugby World Cups, Athletics World Championships, Golf Majors and many of the biggest sporting news stories.
She currently reports on the Premier League, Men’s BBC’s FA Cup, as well as anchoring live Women’s Super League games and the flagship WSL highlights show. She spent the 2024 Paris Olympics in a high profile role as the BBC’s lead trackside reporter for their live athletics coverage. Across BBC Sport and 5 Live radio, Sarah has become a regular presence on their live event output.
She presents and commentates on much of the BBC’s golf coverage, which included Tiger Woods' most recent Masters victory, Shane Lowry winning the Open, as well as the recent Ryder and Solheim Cups. She also works as a reporter for IMG Golf and the R&A.
Sarah was one of the few BBC Sport reporters sent to cover the covid impacted Tokyo Olympics in 2021, as well as the Beijing Winter Games in 2022, before then spending the Summer at the World and European Athletics Championships working as the BBC’s trackside reporter.
Alongside all this, Sarah is also the BBC’s GAA Presenter, and has the privilege of bringing UK audiences the All-Ireland hurling and football Championship on the BBC.
From a sport news perspective, Sarah has been a familiar face across BBC News for the last decade, having worked as a sports presenter across BBC Breakfast, the News at Ten and the BBC News Channel. Well-versed in breaking news live on air, she has covered many major stories and anchored events over the years. She was also the presenter of the BBC’s sports news podcast, The Sports Desk.
Sarah started her career in Ireland, working with Setanta Sports in Dublin where she worked predominantly on Rugby Union. Following her move to Manchester, she spent her time with BBC working on the football league magazine show ‘Late Kick Off’ and quickly progressed to presenting the flagship sports show ‘Sportsworld’ on BBC World Service Radio, where she brought listeners live coverage of the Premier League, as well as anchoring the programme from major events such as Women’s World Cups, the Rio Olympics and Wimbledon.
As an accomplished event host and moderator, Sarah has delivered events for the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs, the Global Irish Forum, Leaders in Sport, Sport Accord, Training Ground Guru, Broadcast Sport, the London Irish Business Society and the London Irish Construction Network.
